Helo!
My name is Mikael Forsberg, i'm 23 years old and live in Stockholm, Sweden. Currently studying to become a "lesser nurse". I'm also a madly skilled amateur programmer with a burning passion for the PHP programming language, desperatly hoping for it to actually move away from the web environment which it's currently so closely tied to. Other then that i often watch Conan O'Brien and take my coffee with atleast two spoons of sugar.
I've been a "competitive gamer" for quite a while, competing in QuakeWorld for many years. After some time of not having anything to play (as QW sort of withered away) i found LFS from watching some videos of the Force Dynamics 301.
Racing games have always been a favorite of mine, even "basic" titles such as Mario Kart and Road Fighter kept me playing and over the years i've played alot of racing games. I own two wheels for the Xbox and probably 20 or so racing titles, but despite my interest in the genre and a general interest in cars i never knew the simulation genre actually existed, games such as Grand Prix Legends and Nascar 2003 had completely passed me by.
I installed the LFS demo (S2 0.5P, i think) and i remember being completely amazed of how real it appeared, just driving the XFG down the Blackwood start/finish straight with a mouse and keyboard. I spent a few months as a demo racer, trying to reach near-WR pace at Blackwood with the XRT, after which i purchased an S2 license.
At first i didn't really know what to do in S2, i tried to find out where to compete and i think i completed quite an awful set of MHR hotlaps early on. A while later i got stuck at Aston National driving the FZR, populated servers and regular racers made it seem like a good place to compete, but after about 1,300 laps i realized it wasn't, really.
I then spotted a post at the LFS forum written by a danish bloke, inviting european drivers to join the Danish Racing Cup, even though i was convinced of my skills not being anywhere near good enough i signed up. As the cup came to an end i realized this was the sort of thing i'd be spending my time in LFS doing, organized racing. I also met FEL in the DRC, he forcefully added me on MSN craving replays and after a few casual conversations it turned out he wasn't just a replay-demander, but quite a nice guy as well. As the second season of the DRC was approaching we decided to join forces, and FLP came to be.
For my future ventures in LFS i'm aiming very high, probably higher then i let on. Maybe (probably) higher then i can manage. It's sort of working so far, now if i could only find a way to be less nervous in them oh-so important races.. :)
